Data + Utility

Data is the backbone of successful connected projects and a key tool in developing smarter services. Mudlark has harnessed public and private datasets to power a city-wide game, to explore why people contact Birmingham Council and to quantify the effectiveness of different foods on people’s health.


Mudlark creates games, from small mobile and desktop games through to real-world experiences based on your heartbeat or games the size of London. Game design and playful thinking are central to Mudlark's creative processes.


Storytelling has always had the power to change how things are seen and understood. Mudlark plays and remodels original and recognised narratives through new technology and social media, including large web performances with the RSC and location-based fiction set on foursquare.

UX + Design

User experience + interaction design is at the core of all Mudlark projects. Our design process is to understand the needs and desires of both the client and the user/audience then design the best way of delivering both.
